Steps for making Muttai Thokku | Egg Thokku
Heat oil in the pan and add whole spices such as cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and star anise. Fry them lightly. Meanwhile, take a vessel and boil the eggs hard for about 15 mins. While boiling add some salt to the water as well.

Then add finely chopped onions to the pan and saute them on medium flame until they turns translucent.

Next, add ginger-garlic paste and saute well until the raw smell goes off.

Then add finely chopped tomatoes or tomato puree to the onions and saute well until the raw smell of the tomato disappears.

Then add all the spices and season it with salt as well. Saute them until the oil separates from the gravy. Meanwhile check the eggs and remove the skin. Keep them aside.

Once you see the oil separation, pour 1/4 cup of water to bring the thokku consistency. Do not pour excess water so that it might lose its exact taste.

Let it boil for few mins. Meanwhile, gently cut the eggs into two pieces and keep them ready.

Then put these eggs in the thokku and mix them gently. So that the yolk will not mix with the thokku.

Let it be in simmer for two mins.

Muttai Thokku is ready to be served hot.
