It is a quickly made breakfast or lunch or dinner menu using wheat flour. There are many varieties of chapatis like wheat flour chapati, ragi chapatis and millet chapatis. Here I have shown the Wheat flour chapatis that goes amazing with any type of curries such as aloo curry, mushroom curry, and so on. I served these chapatis with scrambled egg curry.

In this chapati, I have added ghee in the chapati dough to get the soft chapatis but you can add oil if you desire to add any specific type of oil. Chapati is an unleavened flatbread that is a staple in the Indian subcontinent. This goes amazing with potato curry, tomato curry, mushroom curry and so on.

  • Add wheat flour to the mixing bowl.
  • Add the required amount of salt. Mix it well.
  • Add 2 to 3 tbsps of ghee and give a quick mix.
  • Gradually add water to the flour and start mixing the dough.
  • The dough should be soft when you press the dough with your finger. Rest it for 10 to 15 mins.
  • Spread the chapati dough into 8 to 9 small doughs.
  • Place a small dough over the chapati roller. Dust some wheat flour.
  • Roll the dough into small chapatis.
  • In a hot tawa, grease some ghee.
  • Place the chapati into the tawa on a low to medium flame. Fry the bottom side of the chapati until the upper side pops out a bubble-like texture.
  • Grease some ghee on the upper side of the chapati.
  • Flip the chapati upside down and fry it. Repeat the process for other doughs.
  • Serve the hot chapati with any side dishes.

Notes

  • Adding ghee to the dough will make the chapatis soft.
  • Do not spread the chapati so thin so that the chapati may become hard while frying.
  • Maintain the flame in medium to low so that chapatis will not burn.
