Vermicelli Kheer | Recipe to make Semiya Kheer

Vermicelli Kheer is one of the most appetizing sweet which is mandatory in all our Indian functions and festivals. Ingredients for making Vermicelli Kheer

  • 2 tbsp of Ghee
  • 1 cup of Kheer Vermicelli
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1.5 cup of water
  • 3 tbsp of Milkmaid
  • 8 to 10 Cashew nuts
  • 8 to 10 Brown Raisins

Steps for making Kheer

  • Heat the Ghee in the pan and roast the cashews and raisins until it becomes golden brown and keep aside. Simmer the flame while roasting so that the nuts will not get over-roasted.

  • Next, in the same pan pour half a tablespoon ghee if required and roast the vermicelli on the low flame until it becomes golden brown aromatic colour.

  • Next, add a cup of water to boil the roasted vermicelli in the medium flame and wait until it becomes soft.
Boil it until vermicelli becomes soft.
  • Then add a cup of milk to the roasted vermicelli and bring it to boil. While boiling the milk, stir it continuously so that you know the consistency of the Kheer.
  • Once the milk boiled, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of milkmaid or as per your tastebuds and stir them gently for one minute in the medium flame.
Adding milkmaid gives super sweetness to the kheer.
  • Garnish with roasted nuts, turn off the stove. Hot Vermicelli Kheer is ready to be served.

Quick Tips

  • Do not add more milkmaid or without measuring the quantity of the milkmaid since it contains more sweetness.
  • While adding water to boil the roasted vermicelli, measure it carefully so that you do not over pour the water. Better add the water that you will be adding for diluting the milk while boiling it for the kheer.
  • Stir the kheer often so that you can make your desired consistency of kheer.
  • The kheer will become thick if it cools down. To bring it your consistency, again add some quantity of milk and boil it for a minute. At this stage, you can check for sweetness. Milkmaid can be added if necessary.
