Squid roast or Kanava Rost is a spicy semi-gravy dish that goes amazing with hot plain rice, roti or chapati.
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- ½ Lemon's Juice
- 1 Bowl Squid Chopped
- 2 medium-sized Onions chopped thinly
- 1 Tomato chopped finely
- 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
- 3 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Pepper Powder
- 5 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- Few Curry Leaves
MAKING OF SQUID ROAST
Heat oil in a cooking pan and mustard seeds. Let it splutter. Then add curry leaves.
Add chopped onions. Saute them until they turn translucent. Sprinkle some salt over it.
Add a ginger-garlic paste and saute them until the raw smell goes off.
Add chopped tomatoes. Saute them until they turn mushy.
Add all the spice powders and saute them until the raw smell goes off.
Add a little water and bring it to a boil.
Add chopped squid and mix them gently.
Add a cup of water. Close the pan and cook the squid until it is done.
- Marinating the squid with turmeric powder and lemon helps to get rid of the fishy smell.
- I have made it a bit spicy one but you can adjust the spiciness as per your taste.
